England Cane Furniture As It Stands

Before we go into England Cane Furniture, it would be interesting to see where this fits into the long line of history of the English furniture, and how and when it came about in the living rooms of today.

One of the strongest influences in English interior design and architecture came from the Victorian times. Victorian styled furniture is still very popular today. This is due to accessibility, rather than its aesthetic views, although, that view is rapidly changing. It satisfied the taste of the middle class people as before the mass production era, it was custom made. Within the Victorian times, furniture evolved steadily, one of which was its value to show the status by having such furniture in your home. Another phenomenon would be the rising numbers of middle class people in England.  The internal affairs do have its impact. But the external affairs also brought new shapes into mainland UK. For example, the England Cane Furniture, that was brought by the British army from the forests of India and East Indies. But these styles did not have its significant effect until the mid-60’s onwards where the flower generation tend to head east for their spiritual peaceful belief apply to many aspects including households. Back to mainland England, the rise of urbanization came in the Elizabethan period. Many people moved to the cities demanding the wealth, both the state and looks. This offered new customers. And with a vast number of large families and the need for entertainment, obviously this is a need for a large number of furniture.  The early Elizabethan times introduced machines instead of manpower. This is the beginning of the industrialized age. Factories evolved and designers are kept to a distance from their customers. Manufactures worked at a fast pace and there was an uptight rush for designers to be in the foremost of list in creativity.

The Regency period in 1835 saw a decline in conservative styles and wanting more curves in their furniture. From 1850 onwards the furniture showed curves with reasonably low prices. But generally the standards were low. William Morris countered that led to superior hand made furniture. His thoughts initiated the Arts and Crafts Movement, which eventually came across the Art Nouveau movement. It is at this stage cane furniture appeared in scatters. Until now, the styles and application for England Cane Furniture varies. Its combination can also suit that of the Victorian times.
